My Neighbor Keeps Telling People My Husband Is A Drunk.

We have a neighbor that we have had issues with for many years. He is a nuisance (we are looking for a lawyer to pursue a case for that).

We have had to go to the town over property disputes, they made a false CPS claim against us, etc.

The thing is everytime we have to deal with him he is telling people that my husband is a drunk.

In the town meeting he brought up him being a drunk.

In the Cps report he said my husband drives drunk with the kids in the car.

They got in a fist fight, and he was saying that my husband was drunk. He was not, and the police report does not indicate that he was drunk.

My husband is not a heavy drinker. We have kids, and we always make sure one of us abstains if the other is having alcohol.

As he's gotten older he actually has pretty much stopped drinking. It gives him a headache and he just doesn't like to anymore.

So can we sue this neighbor for defamation or slander for going around telling everyone he can that my husband is a drunk?
