Need Suggestions To Handle Rental Car Damage Claim
Hi, I’m looking for legal advice about a situation I’m currently dealing with.
I rented a car, and met with a small accident that caused damage to the bumper. Unfortunately, I didn’t opt for the collision damage waiver and the company is now claiming $1,800 in damages. I tried negotiating for a reduced payment and even requested a payment plan since I’m unemployed and struggling financially, but they rejected both. They’ve made it clear that they expect full payment by January 27, 2025, or additional fees will be incurred.
The problem is, they don’t seem to have a direct contact or any way to discuss this further and come to an agreement. It’s all very rigid and impersonal, and I’m unsure of my options.
I’d like to know: 1. What happens if I don’t pay by the deadline? 2. Can they take legal action against me, and what would that look like? 3. Are there any steps I can take to protect myself or force a negotiation?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insights you can share. Thanks in advance!
