Neighbor Died While I Was Taking Care Of Her Animals
In California: My neighbors are (were) 2 older, unwell, sisters living together in a large house they owned outright. Sister 1 was hospitalized, and she kind of took care of Sister 2. I stepped in to help take care of Sister 2 (drive her to some dr visits) as well as feed/care for their dog and cats. Sister 2 was hospitalized, and I continued to care for the animals in the house. Then, Sister 1 died. Sister 2 told me there is no need for me to help with funeral arrangements as there is no next of kin, no family at all, no friends no one to call. THEN, Sister 2 died. I have searched the house far and wide for any will/estate docs, anything at all that could help. There is nothing. I found an accountant that did some taxes - he had no info for me. I went through their computer, every email I found was just between Sister 1 and 2. It indeed appears that they did not have any friends or family, not even anyone they communicated with. AT ALL. I asked a private investigator to look in databases. He found 0 associations. I saw bank statements etc. and know there is consistent flow of money from investments into accounts, bills on auto pay, so the lights/heat etc. are on. I continue to care for the animals as best I can. But...wtf do I do?
