Neighbor Keeps Driving On My Yard Even After I Asked Them To Stop.
I’m located in CT. My neighbor keeps driving over part of my yard on the side of my house and backyard. Their driveway goes past our 2 houses into their backyard. They run a business out of their basement and their clients use part of my backyard and the side of my house to drive on and turn around. I had texted her twice asking her to please stop driving on my yard and to inform their guest about it as well because there are tire marks and holes from different people in my yard (yes I have pictures too). She ignored my first text. One night I watched 3 cars use my yard as a turn around and another car half parked on my property. I texted her again asking if she could have the person move their car off my yard and asked if I could have her landlords number so I can work out a solution with him (my town doesn’t allow you to put up a fence/barrier directly on property lines unless written agreement by neighboring homeowner) she called me screaming and told me to go outside to see what I’m talking about and to settle it. She continued to scream and yell at me as well as one of her guest started to charge at me. She said it’s not her problem that people are driving on my property and she can’t control anyone. Recently she’s been purposely driving over my backyard to turn around and came inches away from hitting my deck. I know my next step is to put up a temporary snow fence with no trespassing signs facing her. My questions are: is there a specific type of no trespassing sign I need? If after the signs are up and they continue/damage my property again do I then need to start calling the police?
Also to add, we do know where the property line is from the previous homeowner that lived there for 20+ years and a fence that was there when we bought the house. Its was poorly constructed and fell within the first year we lived in the house. My husband and father spent an afternoon taking down the fence and cutting it up. We do have some nails and stuff in the yard that makes me nervous will pop a tire on one of their cars. If the no trespassing sign is put up and the continue to turn around in our yard will I still be liable if a nail popped their tires? I’ve spent a few days trying to pick up as many as I can.
Thank you!
