Neighbor Pacing Halls, Pounding On Doors, Screaming; Police Unresponsive
Hi. Me (31F) and my wife (35F) live in an apartment complex in TX. We’ve been having escalating issues with our neighbor for about six months now. We initially thought there was something domestic going on and he was living with someone because there was the sound of throwing things/broken glass and he was screaming “get the fuck out!” at the top of his lungs, but then we learned he lives alone. He also screams things like “don’t touch me, don’t look at me!”
Lately he’s taken to pacing our apartment hallway, talking to nobody. He aggressively pounds on doors and shouts at people to open up and “make it stop.” On my way to work yesterday he stepped in front of me and asked if I knew about AI and if I knew how these apartments worked because someone was using AI on him in his apartment. He tried to get me to go into his apartment to look but I managed to evade him.
We haven’t called the police but someone else did and they came out to do a welfare check. He screamed in their faces that they weren’t real and that he was calling the FBI. The cops kind of shrugged and told us he hasn’t committed a crime and left. We have also told our apartment manager who said they don’t particularly care.
Is there anything legally we can do to just…get him some help? I think he really needs it but I’m not sure what to do. TIA.
