Neighbor Threatening To Sue Over Flute Practice – Do They Have A Case?
First time posting here.
I live in a townhome community, and I’ve been here for 6-7 years without ever having an issue with neighbors. Recently, some new neighbor moved in, an elderly woman, and came by to complain about me practicing the flute. She mentioned she has a broken leg and can’t leave the house, so she’s home all day and apparently can hear me playing.
For context – I don’t practice every day and usually play for about an hour here and there. It’s not like I’m blasting music or playing late at night. She said if I don’t stop, she’ll call the cops and even threatened to sue me with the help of a lawyer.
I’m just wondering – does she actually have any legal standing here, or is she just trying to intimidate me? I’ve never had a complaint in all the years I’ve lived here. I want to be a good neighbor, but I also feel like I should be able to practice in my own home without fear of legal action.
Appreciate any advice!
