No Heater For 3 Weeks Now. It Gets To 30s In Our Living Room.

I'm considering going to a lawyer but I want to see if we have any grounds for doing so. Our heater went out Dec 6th. Our landlord sent out the technician right away who wasn't able to order the part until Dec 9th. The estimated time of delivery was 7-10 business days. I called the company on the 9th business day (Dec 19th). They said they still have yet to receive the part and we were tentatively on their schedule for Dec 30th IF the part arrives.

We have been using space heaters that we purchased/acquired in our room and our 3 year old twins room. We've been having to use the oven to heat the living room/kitchen. With the way the house us wired we cannot put another space heater in the living room as it overdrawn the circuit (or something) and the breaker trips.

The landlord thus far has only offered prorate rent for any day that we didn't stay in the house while the heater is out. We told him we can't take him up on the offer as we cannot afford a hotel for multiple days. We can't stay with any family because we are a family of 5 with 2 dogs. They don't have enough space for everyone for an extended period.

Does anyone have any insight on maybe is being able to get a lawyer to break the lease? This is not the only issue we have had in the house and we moved in beginning of October.
