No Price On Lease. Landlord Trying To Scare/coerce Me Into Staying.
I recently signed a lease for a home that cost $2200/month isn’t a small town. I was OK with paying this rate due to there being an extremely limited rental inventory in the city. The day after I signed the lease, a rental with an identical floor plan and age appeared for $1845/month. I asked the landlord if there was any way he could match the rate as his initial reasoning for not lowering it was that there were “no comps on the market.” The landlords leasing agent stated that I would have to stay with the rate on the lease and that there was nothing they could do. Upon reviewing the signed lease I realized that there was no rental price or end date in any of the documentation paper work. After I notified the landlord that I would be signing a lease for the property that is $1845/month, he sent me a long email detailing how the person in the home had committed suicide to essentially scare me into honoring his incomplete lease agreement. Since there is no price or end date on the lease I signed with him I’m not sure how I should proceed. Does he have any legal recourse against me?
