Not Even Sure If I’m Being Sued, Never Was Served?
I have a credit card debt for $2900 that was sold by the bank to LVNV Funding. They had a law firm collection agency send me a letter about a debt. I created a debt validation letter using solosuit and just heard back from them with the debt validation about a week ago. Fast forward to today and I have four attorney advertisements in my mailbox. I went to check my local clerk of courts website and it says “case status pending” and has a “statement of claim” e-filed. There is evidently a credit card pre-trial hearing scheduled a few months from now.
I was never served or mailed any paperwork stating they were suing me nor notifying me of a court date. I literally just got this debt validation information which sends me a final bill from this credit card company that just has interest and no other information.
I’m trying to understand what my next steps are here. Do I need to be served for this to be official? Is the pre-trial hearing with that specific date just tentative of me being served? Do I have to file an answer with the courts?
