Online Order Cancelled And Refunded After Pick-up. What's My Obligation?
This past week I ordered a $600 item (gas powered mini-bike) from a national business chain that has a store location about 30 minutes from me. They had a promotion for 10% off if you do in store pickup, so I ordered the item and picked it up the following day.
The evening of pickup I got an email stating my order was ready and I needed to pick it up by the following day. I had my item, so I just ignored it.
The next day I got a follow up email stating the order had ben cancelled and a refund issued. Sure enough, by bank reflected the refund.
Since this was no small amount, I felt I should reach out and try to make it right. I called the online customer service. They said they could do nothing on their end and I should reach out to the local store.
I called the local store, they were very appreciative and while I was on the phone he pulled up the order and said that he had corrected the error.
For the last couple days the online order status had changed from "cancelled" to "processing". As of this morning however, it now says "cancelled" again, and I still haven't been charged.
What is my obligation moving forward? I feel I've made an honest effort, but not sure if they'd have grounds to try and charge me down the road. It was their error, but this has been a rather confusing experience.
Thanks!
