Out $4k From A Cruise Line Because The Credit Codes 'don't Exist'
Had a cruise booked for a wedding (mar 2020) that was all cancelled for COVID $4,300. They gave us credit certificates to use to book a future cruise but the kicker was you had to use them to rebook within x amount of time 6 months or a year or something. So we (my spouse and i) keep rebooking cruises that of course get cancelled bc of covid but thats what they say we have to do to keep the credits valid.
So we book cruise #2 and have to pay $500 deposit that can't be used with credit - doesn't sail bc of covid. We book cruise #3, another $500 and doesn't go bc of covid. We book cruise #4, another $500, and it does sail but the total is only like $2,000 (should be 1500 - the 500 deposit we made). Somehow they only used $625 of credit and then charged us $700 after the fact. This is Nov 2021.
Each cruise and cancellation they give us a new credit certificate code. At this point I'm so fed up and trying to book a cruise to just use up the remainder and be done with it, but they 'can't find' any of my codes and none of them are linking to any of their records. Even though I have emails with all of the codes and statements they 'can't find them'. Several different representatives give me the run around via phone and email for literally over a year.
We are military and so through work we have a legal office we can get advice through and I bring all this info to him with receipts and he says he can 'see what we can do'. I want patiently checking in via email, but I know he has more important things going on then me missing some money.
I feel like I have done everything I could along the way and this is all getting so old you know 4 years ago now, but it is a lot of money to me and if there's anything I can do to get some of it back I want to try (we really could use it right now).
I'm looking for anything else I could possibly do, if this is useless or if I should hire someone, but it is such a big corporation (RC) idk if its a moot point to try and get my money back. Thanks for reading.
