Parents Assaulted Me And Kicked Me Out. How Do I Get My Stuff Back?

My (23M) parents have always been emotionally abusive, but they got physical with me last night during an argument. My dad got really upset, held me on the ground, and hit me in the face. They kicked me out of the house, and now they're trying to frame me and convince my extended family that I assaulted my father. Not sure how successful they'll be with that since I'm the one with bruises on my face. My head is still spinning and I don't really know what to do. I'm sad and confused and I feel betrayed. My friend is letting me stay at his place for the for the time being before I go back to college in January. Needless to say it's been a really swell Christmas.

A lot of my belongings are still at my parents' house though, and they wont give anything to me. I tried to go talk to them this morning, but they just kept screaming at me to leave. I don't want to cause any more problems, I just want to get my stuff and get away from them. Would the police be able to help me get my things? If I tell them my dad hit me, would they try to open a case? I don't want to escalate things but I just don't know what to do in a situation like this.
