Parking Lot Fender Bender, Guy Wants Me To Pay For 50% Of His Damage

I was recently involved in a parking lot fender bender that we both agreed was 50/50 fault. (We were both backing out and hit each other while moving). However I drive a big pickup truck with a tow hitch and he was in a sedan. As a result my truck has zero damage but there is quite a bit of visible damage to his rear bumper and trunk.

He has no collision insurance (he does have liability) so he is insistent on getting it fixed out of pocket and having me cover 50% of the costs. I suggested we each cover our own vehicle but he refused that and keeps telling me I need to pay for 50% of his damage.

I posted this in an insurance subreddit and apparently since I live in Virginia I'm not liable for any of his damage because we both have equal fault. So I don't think he'll be able to make a claim on my insurance. Is there anything he can do legally to force me to pay for half the damage? Or can I safely tell him to pound sand?
