Personal Injury Lawyer Or No?
I attended the Texas Longhorns playoff football game at DKR Stadium on Dec 21, 2024. About 5 mins into the first quarter I attempted to go down the stairs from where I was seated to the concourse below to use the restroom. As I approached the bottom of the stairs that lead to the ramp I notice a beer vendor is blocking the bottom of the stairs with his blue tub sitting on the ground at the very bottom step and his entire body fully behind it blocking the entire exit of the stairway. I paused to wait for him to finish but the people behind me on the stairs did not and I was pushed forward and over the last few steps and rail to the ramp below. The fall (approx 3-4ft) caused me to break my 5th metatarsal on my right foot and required surgery to fix which I had completed yesterday after consulting with an orthopedic specialist.
The stadium medical staff found me and had their staff asses my injuries and they determined it was likely broken and for me to get an xray after the game. They gave me pain medicine and a walking boot and sent me on my way.
Do I have recourse on the beer vending company, stadium security (who was standing 4 ft from the vendor and had not made him move from blocking the stairs), and the venue/university themselves? I have insurance that covered some of the surgery but I have not received all my final bills yet to assess all the monetary loss. I also cannot drive for atleast 6 weeks and my wife is pregnant with our first child due at the end of February which is causing some emotions to come up from both of us on how all this will work out with all this stress.
Any help or advice is appreciated on what course I should take.
