Plaintiff Is Approaching The Judge Via Their Church Connections, What Can I (defendant) Do?

Card image cap

I'm in an ongoing civil trial and the other day the plaintiff walked into the trial hearing flanked by a retired member of law enforcement. This person then sat in the area where the public can sit and watch a trial. I didn't know this person at the time, but later found out that not only was this person a higher up in the police department, but had worked closely with the judge during the judge's years as a prosecutor and lawyer.

The judge's tone also appeared "harsher" towards my attorney that day, despite always being sympathetic to us since the start of the trial. Obviously this didn't feel right - a senior law enforcement officer from the local PD, who has nothing to do with this case but appears as the plaintiff's buddy.

How should I approach this? Any suggestions?

EDIT: The individual in question became a friend of the plaintiff via their church.
