Please Help! I Was Scammed By A Used Car Dealership (in Oregon)

Thank you to whoever takes time to read this post!! On January 22, 2025, I purchased a car from a used dealership. I went there possibly intending to be a co-signer, but after my friend was unable to get approved for a loan, I was coerced into a straw loan. I bought the car solely under my name with the intention of letting my friend have it/make the payments, although I quickly realized that I couldn’t trust her to do so. I now have the car back in my possession. After all of this, I realized that I payed much more than it is worth. I got a carfax report that revealed many unsavory things that they did not share with me, I also had a diagnostic test run on it & was informed that it is not even in drivable condition.
I made an appointment to have it checked by the official Mercedes dealership, since I am allowed to go the mechanic of my choosing under the extended warranty that I purchased along with the car. While speaking with the gentleman there though, he advised me to go back to the dealership I purchased from, before the warranty goes into effect (on February 22nd) & I might have some leverage, since they did not disclose these issues to me. He also told me the warranty is likely not to accept my claim because it was a preexisting issue. I have called the man who sold me the car, twice now & he has not returned my calls.
I signed up for LegalShield & was assigned an attorney, but their firm has some pretty terrible online reviews which doesn’t boost my confidence too much. Under the “demand I wish for them to make to the opposing party” portion of my “authorization to send letter” I wrote that I’d like to return the car & have my loan rescinded (then included all of the amounts & their titles) but I have requested that he sends me a draft/okays it with me before he sends it through. The attorney told me today: 1. He thinks I have a pretty good case against the dealership. (Although he clearly hadn’t read through my documents, he was doing it as we were on the phone.) That we will threaten to sue if they don’t grant my request. 2. Even if they didn’t know about these issues with the car, they definitely should have. 3. They’d most likely rather give up the loan than go through a lawsuit over it.
Thoughts please???
