Police Raided My Home Looking For Someone, Entered Without Permission And Traumatized My Partner.
Hey everyone. (I'm explaining the details of what my partner told me. We live in NSW Australia.)
So tonight while I was at work and my partner was home alone with our three small dogs. The police banged on the door demanding to open the door. She open the door and many police immediately entered the house. And only once they were inside the house and officer asked if anyone else was home and if she knew the name of this random person we didn't know. During those questions multiple officers walked straight through the house without a word and went searching in every room and back yard. One officer kept repeating questions to my partner as she was frozen in fear, answering every question multiple times. Suddenly when they couldn't find the person they basically just said thanks and left leaving all doors open, leaving my partner terrified and trying to calm the dogs down which are also genuinely terrified of any noise around the house since.
I want to know the legality of entering the house and property without permission or explaining anything to my partner. I also want to know if any compensation is possible as she has a history of break-ins when she lived in South Africa and was traumatized. Tonight has honestly terrified her and she doesn't want to be alone and can't sleep either.
