Possibly Being Underpaid
I work for a company who handles federal contracts for services on government property. My particular role is a full time janitor for a VA clinic. Our contract is believe started around June 2022 I make about $16.20 currently. But I learned a couple days ago the according to executive order 14026, the federal minimum wage for federal contractors should be $17.75 starting January 1, 2025. And the pay last year was $17.20. I brought it up to my supervisor, asking if this order applied to us. She, in turn, spoke to the project manager, who said that they didn't have to following that if they don't have the funding. I was not there for the conversation nor do I have access to written proof that it was said. This all just seems a little fishy to me, or maybe I just don't understand enough about laws and federal contract. Can someone help me clarify if this is correct or should I pursue legal action?
