Posted A True And Fair Review Of An Attorney And He Threatened To "take The Time To Respond To My False And Defamatory Statements"
Sorry for the word salad but I received a traffic ticket last week and received some advertisements from lawyers in the mail offering consultations. I reached out to one of them and after speaking with the secretary (who was lovely) I held for about 10 minutes while waiting for the attorney. When he got on the line he had almost nothing to say to me and basically asked me what I wanted to do and how bad was the accident (there was no accident in my case) and just in general acted completely uninterested in talking to me. I told him how I really don't believe that I deserve a careless driving ticket because I'm a very safe, focused and smart driver and I believe my dashcam footage would show that the officer wasn't being reasonable. I mentioned that I haven't been pulled over in my 10+ years driving and now I've gotten this ticket from an officer that also pulled me over not even a week before. He mentioned how that itself might be another complaint and then asked if she was cute and said maybe she was hitting on me. I already thought the consultation was unprofessional and that just put it over the top. We wrapped up and without factoring in my driving history he just said he usually pushes for a 0 points ticket for his fee that he advertised ($225) and asked if I had a credit card to pay that and then he'd take care of getting the charge changed which would also likely carry a larger fine than the original $86 ticket. I told him regardless I wasn't going to be paying the $225 at that moment and needed time to think it over. I decided that this was enough of a standout situation to me that I felt the need to post a negative review which reads
"Probably the least professional consultation I could imagine having with an attorney. The guy acted like he didn't want to be talking to me at all, showed no real interest in helping me, asked if the cop that ticketed me was cute and maybe trying to hit on me and just pushed me towards the quickest and easiest way for him to make some money off of me."
He has now responded to my review with
"All phone calls are recorded. I would advise you to remove this review immediately. Before I take the time respond to your false and defamatory statements."
I don't feel like there's any reason for me to take down my review nor do I feel like I defamed him or made false statements in my review and any recording of our phone call would only show that he did in fact say the one specific thing that I mentioned him saying (the cute cop thing) the rest of the review was obviously speaking on how he made me feel as far as his interest level goes which is up for interpretation but isn't defamation.
What should I do?
Tldr: posted an accurate review of an attorney and he replied telling me to take down the review for false and defamatory statements.
