Preschool Abuse

Okay this is going to be long. My son has been at a church based preschool for 2 years. I’ve felt red flags since the second week of school, when my little boy who loved school started saying he was afraid of his teachers and hated school. I should’ve listened. More red flags were raised when multiple kids were being sent home in their poop covered clothes. This time, I listened; I got a meeting with the director. Told her my concerns about the teacher, her rude attitude towards parents, the poop instances, not having any communication from the teachers and when asking about their day, often met with hostility and attitude. A survey to parents went out. I went to the schools Christmas party where I witnessed 2 kids throwing haymakers at one another and when I separated them, the little boy had the saddest outburst I’ve ever seen.

After the party, I confirmed that the parents were not made aware of the punching incident. She demanded her child be moved to another class and the director told her she couldn’t because of numbers but she could feel free to keep him at home.

She took him to a drop in daycare for a few hours the next day to get some work done and was called about 45 min in. The attendant told her that her son had went potty without telling anyone and he had been gone for a while so she went to check on him. She asked if he needed help and was met with no response. When she let herself in, she found him crying silent tears, trying to clean himself up. The attendant told him to stop, that was her job and she would get him cleaned up. He responded with sobbing even harder saying “no! I had an accident and teachers don’t clean poop! It’s my own fault and now I have to clean it or stay in it and now nobody with love me!”

I’m enraged. Prior to finding out the last detail, I had already pulled my son out and called both the director and the pastor, demanding that the teacher be fired. Now that we know that the “accidents” these children were having were due to teachers neglecting their needs, making them wait so long (even when telling the teachers they needed to go) that they soiled themselves. And THEN they tormented these sweet innocent children instead of calling parents to come clean them, an agreement we made upon signing up our children. We were to be available to come clean up or get our children at anytime and this should’ve-retired-last-year teacher instead took it upon herself to TORTURE a little boy who had an accident.

She has since reported this to the state and filed a police report but it just doesn’t feel like enough. Especially when she received a threatening email regarding further contact with the school.

Does she have a civil case? I will be calling the media but what else can we do?

I will be damned if they get away with this.

Edit to add- located in Colorado.
