Private Music Student Has A Registered Sex Offender Benefactor

I have a student at a community musical school i teach at who is newly 18 years old. She has a "partner" who lives in a different state who is paying for her lessons. When she was referred to me, I thought this person was her father, he is currently 36. I suspect they were dating before she turned 18. He pays for her lessons and he purchased a car for her. I have always kept a level of suspicion, and something triggered me to look him up today. He is on the sex offenders list in the state he lives in. The incident he was charged for happened in 2001, but he wasnt charged until 2013. I don't know if my student or her family knows. I'm an independent contractor and not a mandated reporter. The student is very sweet and very hard on herself. I know these situations are delicate, I also want to remain anonymous to protect myself. I dont feel comfortable receiving payments from him, but it also breaks my heart to sever the student/teacher relationship because I do enjoy working with her. Any advice is helpful.
