Question Regarding Non Married Couple Rights Az
I’m reaching out to you all, for info regarding what rights my mom may have. My Mom and Dad have been together since before I (36) was born. They never got married. So that’s what has me coming to you. What rights does she have? My Dad is controlling and very emotionally abusive. About three months ago, my mom sat us all down and said she can’t do it anymore. She said after the holidays, she’s going to move out. My Dad is the main provider. He earns 200k+ a year, while my mom makes 21 an hour. He pays most of the bills etc. She’s fine with moving, with no help from my father financially etc. She found an apartment and, a week ago, notified my Dad that she will be moving out on the 31st. He’s made the last week a living hell for my mom, and brother (20), who still lives at home with them. They have a cabin up North, and my mom and brother planned on going up this weekend to get their stuff (My brother will be moving in with her). My brother told my Dad that he’d be going up with her this weekend. My Dad replied saying that they need to ask him first, and that he’s changed all the locks. He then said he wants her, and all her stuff, out this weekend. I’m worried he’s only going to get worse over the next two weeks. With this provided info, may I ask what my Mom’s rights are? I’ve tried to look it up, but this more unique scenario is hard to research.
What rights does she have? I know he can’t just immediately kick her out. I believe she has 30 days. If this is true, does this also include their (but truly his) cabin? She does have 30 days to move her stuff, and move in general, right? Any other rights that you think is beneficial to know?
I want them to just come stay with me for the next two weeks. But I don’t want her to leave the house, because I’ve read how that could cause her to give up her rights. Plus all her stuff is still at my Dad’s.
Just hoping to find out any rights she may have as a tenant, and anything else I may not be thinking of. Even if you have any helpful resources, I’d appreciate it so much. I’ll take anything you all have.
Thank you in advance
