Received A Letter From A Collection Agency Due To A Work Vehicle Incident But Never Had Prior Communication Sent To Me Or My Job

I was in a fender bender in a work vehicle on a work trip a year ago now. I am covered under my works insurance and that claim should have went through with them. But the other day I received a letter in the mail from a collection agency where progressive (other drivers insurance) wants 2k or my license will be suspended.
When I called the number for the collection agency they told me my job needs to file a claim with their insurance for the incident.
I no longer work for that company and honestly the owner is sheisty. But I called her right away and she pretty much does not want anything to do with it because supposedly they tried numerous times to contact the other girl to properly handle insurance things but when they did finally get a hold of her she said it's not a big deal and she will cover it.
I've never had to deal with this sort of thing and I guess I am looking for the best advice to go about this situation to no longer have it involve me directly. I did check my credit karma and there is no report about this pending claim.
Any advice would be wonderful!
