Received Papers From My Ex At Drop Off

Before I drop $$ on my lawyers retainer fee I thought I’d ask here. My ex handed me a “motion to change order” form. He is seeking a hearing(not set yet) regarding letting our son (8) play a sport. Sport is in ex’s town where our kids attend school. I live 25 min away. I’m hesitant to agree to said sport(I never said no he can’t play) bc we did it last year and practices and games were 3+ times a week. That left me driving back and forth multiple times per day. I have other kids, too, and some practices had son and I home past 9pm on a school night. I offered to have him do the sport closer to me (ex doesn’t have other kids and works part time).
The papers state in his words under other request “our son would like to play xx for xx this season with his friends” and under special circumstances he said “our son has played xx for 2 years with his friends and is very excited. I have offered to help mother with travel any way I can. She isn’t allowing it” (this isn’t even true, his offer for help was to have our son stay at his house which would impact my parenting time and I never explicitly said no). His other request is for me to “register and sign up child for sport and allow him to participate in all games and practices”
I’m pretty confident a judge wouldn’t order me to comply but I’m just curious what others think. Son has said to me he doesn’t have to play and it’s not a big deal.
