Renting A Room In Florida - Homeowner Asked That I Do Not Use The Address For My Drivers License

Card image cap

I have rented a room in a home from the homeowner in the state of Florida starting on July 2024 to present. While applying for my first learners permit/drivers license at the tax collectors office, they would not accept the address on my current identification card because it’s a private mailbox address and not a residency address. My current written lease was up on October 2024. I requested an updated lease to which the homeowner agreed to but asked that I do not use the address for my license. They said it would raise insurance. I’ve read that even if they don’t want me to use the address I can still legally use it. Is this true?
