Roommate Is On House Arrest & Can't Work Until His Next Hearing

Yesterday my roommates court hearing was rescheduled. His house arrest was supposed to be amended to letting him leave for work and come home right after. His reschedule is for May 5th. It has already been 2 months with him stuck in the house not contributing to rent, electricity, or water and I'm spread thin carring the extra financial stress. What is he going to do when he can't pay his phone bill and the lawyer or law enforcement can't get a hold of him? How do they expect people to afford food with out being able to work? Is there anything we can do to get infront of a judge and expedite this process? We live in Texas and his charge was for assault or domestic abuse I'm not really sure which
