Sister Owns Condo. Condo Management Had A Spare Key To Unit. Sister Took Key From Them During A Standard Inspection. Condo Management Is Threatening Legal Action (on, Canada)
Long story short, my sister just bought a condo. She owns the condo. The condo sent her a letter saying they were doing inspections. When they knocked on the door, they had a list of things they were going to inspect. My sister said let me see the list (she wanted to hold it in her hand and look at it). Management said "no, I can tell you what we are going to inspect".
While they were inspecting the unit, one of them was checking a second key in the door. My sister went bananas and said this is a private unit that was paid for, not rented, why do they have a 2nd key? They said for emergencies because it is a condo. She ended up getting into a scuffle and grabbed their hand and the key from them.
A month later she received a notice that they were taking legal action against her because they need a 2nd key on file.
Is this legal? My sister won't show me any formal documentation and insists she has "Owners Rights" and they are doing something illegal. She claims she's consulted a lawyers office and the clerk claims she has a case?
What are your thoughts?
