Solar Panel Fiasco

Hello, I had solar panels installed on my house by what I thought was a reputable company. They had been in business for almost 10 years and had what seemed like sincere reviews.

My reservations began after install, they installed the panels on the garage which is shaded by the house for 80 percent of the day, I expressed my concerns but they insisted the panels “absorb uv”. After a few months of the panels being on I hardly noticed any difference in my electric bill. The bill was supposed to be only the “fee” for being connected to the grid while I would see credits on our account for energy being produced.

I called the installer and they said a couple of the panels weren’t communicating with the inverter and that they’d get someone out to fix it and that the layout of the panels may be a problem now because of the shade from the house.

A few weeks go by and I hadn’t heard anything so I called to follow up and the number was disconnected, I emailed the person I had been in contact with and got an automatic reply saying the email was no longer monitored.

I am now left with a broken system that I’m paying almost 300 dollars a month for. My most recent electric bill was 196 dollars plus my gas bill. The finance company was no help at all and said there was nothing they can do. I my payments are scheduled to increase to 400 per month in June becuase I was unable to apply my tax credit from the government because they “adjusted” my return with no explanation. I was due to get around $6500 back last year but then when I got my return it was just over $1000. With a letter stating they’d adjusted my return with no explanation why.

I had tried contacting a few attorneys and none were willing to help.
