Somebody Took A Picture Of Me Off Of My Instagram And Is Trying To Use It To Embarrass Me

I got into a slight disagreement with somebody over politics and this guy decided to take a picture of me off of my private Instagram and edit it to where I look like a female and is using this account to message other people trying to embarrass me and I want the account removed. He is messaging me on threads with this account and threads don't seem to want to remove it, is there a way that I can have it removed? Do I have any legal standing against the guy responsible? I do YouTube and I don't want something like this coming back on me because this guy is trying to make me look bad and I am willing to pay to take legal action if I have a foot to stand on
