Someone Else Got My Dd Pay And Employer Says It's My Issue

Payday came and I never received my Direct Deposit. I went to the payroll website and noticed that an unknown Direct Deposit was added without me knowing anything about it. Not only that, someone had set that unknown DD to get 99.9% of my check and my checking account to 0%. So I didn't get my pay. I did what I could, made a police report, emailed the payroll team and changed my email and password.

My employer eventually reached out and said that since it looks like I logged myself like normal, they will not send me another check because then it would be like they are paying me TWICE.

I explained to them:

-I never got notified about the unauthorized Direct Deposit that was added.

-They don't have 2FA so how is it that they have weak security when this is possible to happen again to me or others.

-Just because they sent a check to someone, I have trouble understanding how that equates to me getting compensated.

In the end, they still said that they wouldn't know if I could have set it up myself to get paid TWICE. They then said that I should reach to that other bank myself to try and see if the funds could be returned.

I just wanted to say, I feel stupid and I am stupid. But are they right? It's my issue? I feel so robbed. 4 days' worth of labor uncompensated. That's how it feels right now.
