Texas: Left Without Waiting For Police To Return During Stop

I was driving home late last night and was pulled over by local police a few streets from where I lived. I dont know why they stopped me, they just said they wanted to check things were OK... took my details no problems... at the end they saw a bottle of baileys Id brought home from in laws in the back seat of my car and said it was violating open container law

They said they wanted to search my car, I said I didnt understand and they said because of open container laws that was enough for them to search the car... except the bottle has a cap on so I dont know how they could say its open, but they didnt believe me

Something else was going on down the street think some folk were arguing screaming so the guy I was speaking to told me to wait there while he went to deal with it... except it was still a few minutes later, and I was close to home and wanted to finish up and just left, because I hadnt done anything wrong anyway

My wife is local but I am originally from Scotland and we only just moved here last year so the culture is still a bit weird for me, she is losing her mind a but convinced local PD are going to turn up guns drawn at the house... or pull us out the car next time we're seen... is that actually a reasonable expectation?
