Two Dirt Bikes Were Stolen From Me And Insurance Wants Me To Register Them Before Paying Out. New Jersey
Recently my home was broken into and my two dirt bikes were stolen from my garage. They were insured through progressive. Typically you don’t register dirt bikes here, as they are only used at sanctioned events/races on motocross specific tracks. The bikes remain unrecovered and insurance is agreeing to pay out for them. Problem being is they want me to take the certificate of origins to the DMV and attempt to register them before they pay. When you buy the bike the certificate of origin is filled out with my information and notarized by the dealership. Now when I go to register these two bikes I assume they will pop up as stolen in the NICB and then something will happen to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I really don’t want to be arrested or anything like that. Thanks.
