Upstairs Neighbor Triggered Sprinkler System Which Flooded My Apartment.

Card image cap

Neighbors upstairs moved in about a month ago. They have a young child who seemingly has a lot of energy to run around the apartment and create a lot of noise. It's been a nightmare since they moved in.

Just yesterday, the child triggered the sprinkler system, which then flooded my apartment and the apartment below. Theres heavy water damage to a lot of my property. I have renter's insurance with water/flood coverage. They gave me the contact information for the adjuster assigned to my case. I haven't spoken with them yet. I would just like some advice on how to move forward with how to file a claim for the property damage. Most of the water landed in the bedroom and in the kitchen.

Anyone have advice for the best strategy to speak with insurance and how to get the a payout that will cover costs. Without being dropped or risking insurance black list.
