Was Incarcerated In Fort Worth, Spent A Month In Jail For No Crime Committed. How Do I Proceed?
I am a mentally ill individual, and on June 10th of this year I was incarcerated for public trespassing. Previous to the arrest my mom called the municipal police to our home, because I had asked my neighbor for a ride to a restaurant. My mom explained what preempted the call, and he explained that he could not take me in because I had not committed a crime. She put me in the car, and took me to the hospital. Doctors couldn’t find a reason to admit me. I went outside the hospital, sat on a bench, and was approached by another officer. He said I couldn’t sit there, because I was public trespassing. I tried to explain I was trying to call a ride. He turned me around, cuffed me, and drove me to jail. I wasn’t given a phone call. I wasn’t assigned a lawyer. I never got a hearing. I spent a month there in solitary confinement. I only got six meals, no toilet paper, and had to wear the jumpsuit a month with no shower. Not to mention, I wasn’t getting my psych meds. Later, I was let out, found out I had contracted a UTI (probably from the lack of a shower) and discovered all my property wasn’t given back to me. I lost 22.6 lbs within the month. What can I do to seek justice?
