What Is My Legal Obligation To Maintain Contact With An Absent Parent?

Card image cap

Baby daddy and I broke up, he left three days later to another state and has no intention of returning in the foreseeable future.

Up until now I have given him access to our shared child via FaceTime calls and allowed him to visit and stay in my home twice.

I have filed for full legal custody and will be amending it to include physical custody as well. Judge has not seen the case yet.

So the question I have is… Can I go no contact until the hearing date at minimum? The child is too young to operate a phone and video chat with the other parent independently and frankly I don’t have it in me to see his face anymore.

Would love to know what if any legal trouble I can get in by going no contact.
