What Options Do I Have To Stay Legally If My Pd Doesnt Come Current And I Run Out Of Time?

My company wants the best for me and they can either apply for GC EB-2 or H1B. I have officially 2 years and 3 months left. We all know H1B is a lottery based but GC almost guaranteed. What should I do? If I start my GC application I will secure my day most probably for the January end or February but I am scared what if I wont have enough time to wait for the PD date to come current. Also H1B is a lottery based so no guarantee in there too. Please help me and advice me what is the best route there? What options do I have to stay legally if my PD doesnt come current and I run out of time?
