Would I Have Legal Protection If I Were To Be Fired For Searching For A Different Job After Filing A Complaint For Benefits Not Received?

I recently filed a complaint to the US Department of Labor for benefits not received, which was a matter of insurance benefits being deducted from everyone's paychecks yet lapsed twice in the last calendar hear and the most recent instance still not resolved (I am without health insurance despite the deduction since October 1st). The HR director has said that all employee's medical bills will be compensated directly during this lapse, but most are skeptical this will pan out as stated. I have recorded all proof of the company's issues on the matter.

Regardless of that legal matter, it's obvious that I need to look elsewhere. However, the CEO is paranoid and believes that anyone even interested in looking elsewhere deserves to be fired on the spot despite the dwindling amount of work, weekly layoffs, late paychecks, increasing number of lawsuits against the company, and blatant disregard for his employee's wellbeing. He has had our CTO scan through people's computer activity including for job searches (among other behavior) and would likely terminate anyone who he finds searching for other options.

If he were to find out that I am applying elsewhere and fire me, would I have legal protection for wrongful termination due to retaliation given all the justifiable reasons I would apply elsewhere?
