Keep The Faith With Father Christmas | Brief Letters
Santa sceptics | Economic joke | The Piers participle | Humorous history | Newt memories
It seems Rev Dr Paul Chamberlain thought year 6 children were old enough to be sceptical about Santa (Ho-ho-no! Children in tears after vicar tells them Santa is not real, 14 December). This is a bit rich from someone who still believes in the virgin birth and resurrection in adulthood. And with significantly less direct first-hand evidence than the average child has for the existence of Santa.

• Mariana Mazzucato discussed economic policy with Labour prior to the election. There’s little to suggest they listened to her, as Rachel Reeves says the financial sector is “the crown jewel in our economy” (Economists and policy experts warn Reeves against City deregulation, 16 December). The “value extractors” will be laughing all the way to the bank.
