Rivian Shows New Travel Kitchen Accessory In Recent Event
Rivian hit a home run with the original camp kitchen, which fit neatly into the R1T pickup truck’s gear tunnel between the cab and bed. Though popular, the automaker discontinued the product a while back, but it recently announced a replacement, which could become the next best thing.
The new $1,400 Rivian Travel Kitchen is designed to fit the R1, R2, and R3 vehicles. Though the latter two models aren’t due out for more than a year, the kitchen will be available this week in Rivian’s online shop. It comes with a two-burner induction cooktop, a small drawer, LED lights, and more. It folds in half, allowing for easier interior storage.
Rivian hasn’t listed the product on its site yet, but early images from YouTuber Brian Tong show that it secures to the R1S’ tailgate and uses its onboard power outlets for juice. We don’t have details on how Rivian plans for the kitchen to work with the R1T’s tailgate yet. Tong also spied a water storage tank and other storage in the vehicle, but we don’t know if the extra gear comes with the kitchen’s purchase price.
None of Rivian’s accessories are cheap, but the automaker has a finger on the pulse of its buyers, releasing targeted products that outdoor lovers and adventurous EV owners will actually buy. Though not as cool as the first camp kitchen, the new Travel Kitchen shows that Rivian understands its audience.
