Whatever Jenna Ortega And Glen Powell Are Working With J.j. Abrams On Is Not A Time-travel Movie
Like the Twisters he chased, this summer of Glen Powell—and the upcoming, Beetlejuice-themed autumn of Jenna Ortega, for that matter—doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. According to Deadline, the two stars are reportedly in final talks to lead a mysterious new J.J. Abrams project for Warner Bros. According to the trade, few details are known about the film other than the fact that it’s not a time travel movie. Our condolences to the five or so people out there hoping for an Americanized Dark remake starring Powell as an adult version of the lead. That will not be happening, although it sounds like literally anything else is possible. Abrams reportedly wrote the script with his company, Bad Robot, producing. It’s obviously been a great year for Powell. Twisters is still sitting pretty in the number two spot at the box office, with $2.7 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), and another windy 4DX run to come. He’s also starred in popular films like Hit Man and Anyone But You, adopted a dog, and learned that his friend’s little sister did not go on a date with a cannibal. Thank god. There’s also a rumor floating around that he’ll be reuniting with his Anyone But You costar, Sydney Sweeney, for Edgar Wright’s upcoming remake of The Running Man, but that intel hasn’t been confirmed as of this writing.Jenna Ortega is also doing just fine after her exit from the Scream franchise late last year. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will haunt theaters on September 6, with the strike-delayed second season of Wednesday likely to hit Netflix sometime next year. Keep your eyes wide open for a little tease of what’s to come at Nevermore Academy during Netflix’s fourth annual Geeked Week next month.
