Eli Health Launches Hormone Test Using Your Saliva And Smartphone
Eli Health has launched the Hormometer, an at-home testing system that uses your smartphone camera to assess the hormone levels in your saliva.
It sounds very futuristic in the sense that it is an advanced concept, but it is one for here and now thanks to the advances of Eli, with the company detailing five years of research and 12 pending patents.
Now at CES 2025, the congregation point of tech enthusiasts and the latest generation of products, the event provides the backdrop for the unveiling of the Hormometer, starting with cortisol and progesterone tests.
With a similar appearance to a pregnancy test, the device has a display window to view results. It also requires a boldly fluid sample, but this time it is saliva when you insert the cartridge into your mouth for 60 seconds.
The next step is for the Eli app on your smartphone to deploy the camera to drill into the patterns and color appearance of your sample. From these findings, the app will then provide tailored recommendations to assist your sleep, stress, exercise, and fertility needs.
Eli Health has dedicated considerable time and resources to the overall project, but for now, it is only offering the two types of tests. Cortisol is known widely as the stress hormone in the driving seat for the fight or flight response, as well as its relevance for blood pressure, blood sugar, metabolism, and sleep.
Progesterone is a reproductive hormone with abnormal levels considered to be a key contributor to irregular periods, fertility problems, and depression.

Lab-grade precision in your hand
The company will be aiming to connect with its audience due to the universal nature of access, virtually everyone has a smartphone and the tests can be performed at home, with ease. There is no need to send tests to a lab, or to wait weeks for results.
Eli’s Hermometer will be subject to a subscription plan, starting at $8 monthly on a 12-month basis, putting it on a competitive footing with other home tests on the market.
“Combining cutting-edge innovation with user-friendly design, it (Hermometer) delivers lab-grade precision in the palm of your hand,” said Eli Health CEO, Marina Pavlovic Rivas.
“We are making hormone monitoring as simple and accessible as checking your heart rate, helping people proactively manage their health,” she added.
