Joylux Lands $4.5m To Grow Women’s Sexual Health Product Company Backed By Halle Berry

Joylux, a Seattle-based company selling electronic devices that can help women improve their vaginal health, raised $4.5 million in new capital.

Joylux CEO Colette Courtion confirmed the latest round of funding for the 10-year-old company that has raised $22 million to date.

The fresh cash will be used to help launch Joylux’s partnership with actress, filmmaker and entrepreneur Halle Berry, who is also an investor in the company.

Berry is the founder of Respin, a women’s midlife wellness brand focused on women in menopause. She discovered Joylux following “a painful intimate experience and a misdiagnosis that left her searching for answers,” according to a press release.

Berry is helping promote a new Joylux intimacy gel called Let’s Spin.

Joylux devices and accessory products are carried by retail and health partners, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Goop, Neiman Marcus, Ulta and others. The company plans to grow with its international partner, Essity, a women’s health and hygiene corporation.

Joylux sells gels, creams, cooling pads and light therapy devices for the vagina, skin, breasts, hair and nails.

The company’s direct-to-consumer business grew 162% year-over-year, Courtion said.

Joylux employs 15 people. Other backers include Dr. Kathy Fields, a well known dermatologist who co-created Proactiv and Rodan + Fields.
